Candy Depot  (Bellevue)  5 minutes  When you're in the mood for something sweet that melts in your mouth like melted butter, then visit Candy Depot.  All of their candies and chocolate are hand crafted, home made, fresh and delicious!  You will find a wide assortment of flavors and types of various confections to satisfy anyones fancy.  For the love of chocolate, stop in!  Tell LeRose we sent you!

Erlin Trader Antiques (Clyde) 10 minutes   Erlin Trader is an old armory built in Clyde in1912 for the National Guard which now home to Erlin Trader and filled with loads of antiques. The Erlin Trader has a large range of items from old and used, as well as new solid oak and cherry Amish made furniture. The store stocks kitchen and dining room furniture, entertainment centers, bookcases, roll top desks, file cabinets, coffee and sofa tables  They have clocks, crocks, glass, wall decorations, and tin advertising signs too.  Great place to wander around in because you never know what you're going to find.

Grandma's Attic located at Historic Lyme Village  (Bellevue) 10 minutes  The year round Christmas Corner features nationally known 1800's feather tree artist and designer, Dennis Bauer. Also featured in the store are hand blown glass ornaments, historical memorabilia and collectibles, souveniers, gift items, art pieces and so much more.

Jamie's Flea Market   (South Amherst) 25 minutes  Extremely large open air combined with a covered flea and antique market open every Wed. and Sat.  Also has farmers market.  The largest in the area.

The Berlin Fruit Box Company / Samuel Patterson Baskets (Berlin Heights) 30 minutes
Celebrating 152 years making baskets of cherry, maple, walnut and Ohio buckeye woods, as well as farm baskets.  All made on-site, including the log veneering.  If you like Longaberger Baskets, you will fall in love with Samuel Patterson Baskets...the second oldest basket company in the country and the oldest in Ohio--older than Longaberger.  Berlin Fruit Box has made them the same way, since 1858, with thinly peeled slices of wood that are just malleable enough to weave into baskets.

African Safari Wildlife Park (Port Clinton) Be sure to take some take time to visit the only drive through safari located in the Midwest and it's only 30 minutes away!  African Safari Wildlife Park has a wonderful display of live antelopes to wart hogs to giraffes and buffalo wandering free range.  You can feed them right from your car too!  There is also a large petting zoo, rides on different animals and educational seminars for the entire family. Bellevue Society For The Arts (Bellevue) 5 minutes  This lovely theatre seats 350, featuring outstanding theatre productions, cultural events, live concerts, lectures, recitals, teens and children's programs. It's a Small Town theater with Big City talent and productions!   The Bellevue Society for the Arts’ mission is to promote the arts through appreciation, education, and participation.  The adjacent lobby, with full kitchen, is equipped for dinner theatre productions, receptions, parties, recitals, and meetings, seating 200 guests at tables of eight.  The School of the Arts studio building on the property hosts piano, vocal, violin, guitar, and band instrument lessons, and contains an extensive costume shop.   Coupon

Historical Lyme Village, Bellevue, OhioHistorical Lyme Village (Bellevue) 10 minutes  This recreated village, containing restored 19th century buildings depicts life in the Firelands in the 1800's. Interesting, educational and fun for the entire family! Among the buildings in the village is the John Wright Mansion. This Second Empire Victorian Home was build between 1880 and 1882 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The John Seymour House, an 1836 Greek Revival House, was used as a stop on the Underground Railroad. The village is home to 14 other 19th Century buildings including log homes, barns, one room school, general store, town hall, and the Detterman Log Church. The village is also home to the Schug Hardware Museum and the National Postmark Collectors Museum and Research Center. 


Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum (Bellevue) 10 minutes  Ohio's largest railroad museum!  One of the earliest railroads that ran through Bellevue in 1839 was the Mad River & Lake Erie Railroad, and the first engineer of the "Sandusky", Thomas Hogg.  The Mad River & NKP Railroad Society, a non-profit organization, chose this as part of our name when we formed. In 1976 we opened the museum as a lasting bicentennial project. Henry Flagler, who built the Florida East Coast Railroad once lived on the property where the museum is now located.   Coupon



Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center (Fremont) 20 minutes  United States nineteenth president. When the Civil War began, Hayes offered his services to the state of Ohio. Governor William Dennison appointed him to the rank of major in the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He saw much active service, rising to the rank of major general. He was severely wounded on September 14, 1862, at the Battle of South Mountain. In 1864, while still in the army, he was elected to Congress (despite his refusal to campaign). Hayes did not take his seat until the Union had won the war. He was reelected in 1866. The following year Ohio voters elected him governor. He retired at the close of his second term in 1872 and moved to Fremont May 1873. He won the 1876 election only after the creation of a special commission decide disputed electoral votes. Because of the tension surrounding his election, Hayes secretly took the oath of office on Saturday, March 3, 1877, in the Red Room of the White House. 

Sorrowful Mother Shrine  (Bellevue) 15 minutes  The Oldest Marian Shrine in the Midwest. Founded 1850, now in our 160th Year. Located on Ohio 269 South, the Sorrowful Mother Shrine is an old Marian shrine resting on 120 acres of beautiful, unspoiled woodlands. It is the oldest place of pilgrimage dedicated to Mary in the Midwest. Paved walkways, winding among tall and colorful oak trees, lead to the Stations of the Cross and to the replicas of Lourdes and Sepulcher Grottos - favorite places of prayer and meditation. The shrine also provides a popular cafeteria service and picnic area. Masses are held weekdays 11 a.m., Saturday 4 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. & 11 a.m. Special ethnic Sunday celebrations are at noon.  A place to "stand still and feel the presence of God"

Edison's Birthplace (Milan) 15 minutes  Thomas Edison was born in Milan, Ohio in 1847, The Edison Birthplace Museum features a collection of rare Edisonia, including examples of many of Edison's early inventions, documents, and family mementos. The Birthplace is open February through November and is located at 9 Edison Drive in Milan, Ohio
